Who I Follow

I’m a big fan of Evernote and I’m always looking for new ways to make it work for me. Here’s a couple of tips I’ve started applying and getting more use from Evernote (didn’t know that was even possible based on how much I use it already!)

  1. When sending an email use the BCC (blind courtesy copy) field in the address section to include your “secret” Evernote email address. This will automatically add the email text into your Evernote notebook.
  2. Paper notes can be easily captured using a smartphone camera and emailed to your Evernote email address to be read and reviewed when needed.
  3. If you have a netbook or other secondary computer, keep it open with your Evernote client running for capturing notes while on calls or using your primary machine. I do a lot of online demonstrations and it’s nice to have my “external brain” ready to go.
  4. When cleaning up your Evernote notes, search for “-tag:*” (without the quotes) to find any note that has not been tagged for organizational purposes.
  5. On Windows use Win+PrintScreen to grab screen shots for reference. This lets you grab a selection of the screen rather than the entire screen.
Addendum: I discovered forwarding a meeting invitation from Outlook to Evernote adds your Evernote account to the meeting for updates. Not sure if that’s good or bad yet.
